Insightfulness = 4* (It was interesting to see how the author thought your experiences shape your identity/behaviour/character) I found it most interesting to see them coming together within their own reality and with each other.Ĭharacters = 3.5* (would have wished for more diverse characters) She is a really tough woman and the world sure need more of us. Charlie was a bit irritating sometimes but I overcame that pretty quickly, I guess. And the even bigger question: what did they see in each other? Despite all this, their time together wakes up feelings inside them both.įirst things first, Silas is adorable. Learning more and more about themselves, they begin to question whether they would even like to become the person they've been again. ![]() It doesn't take them long to find out, that both had their horrible secrets. Together, they try to figure out what exactly happened and thereby slowly uncover their past bit by bit. As she tries to make it through the day without getting caught she meets Silas, who - apparently - is her boyfriend. She suddenly finds herself in a school lesson, unable to recall how she got there. We enter this story from Charlie's viewpoint. I agree with her stance - which she conveys through the characters - that they are highly significant for character development. ⤐I found it particularly fascinating to see how Colleen interprets the importance of experiences, memories and similar influences. My good friend Dora, recommended this series and since we usually agree(ish) on books I decided to give them a try despite all the bad memories. This turned out to be way cuter than I hoped it would be. It's been a while since I've read one of her books and can't remember whether Colleen dealt with trauma in an appropriate manner so I might feel different about them if I read them again (which I probably won't). I do acknowledge the importance of including these in books but it sort of became Colleen's trademark in my eyes and I stopped going for her books. The main characters usually suffer from some sort of trauma but they are just so exaggerated and overly tragic that I felt fed up with it at some point in the past. I have read one or two series of this author but there was too much melodramatic content. This book may be for you even if you didn't appreciate other Colleen Hoover books. This book is for you if… you enjoy young adult fantasy with a lot of bitter-sweet romance, a cute male main character and a strong lead heroine.
